Statute of Limitations? What is the name of your state? Idaho The Divorce was final in Nov. 1998. In the papers, it was stated my ex-husband was to pay a few outstanding bills. (electricity and dental - about $210.00 total) Now, I'm getting a call from a collection agency that says I have to pay these bills. What argument do I have? How can I get them to understand it's my "ex" they need to deal with? They won't listen to "papers". I've been married now for 18 years. Our credit score is GREAT. Isn't there a Statute of Limitations on such things? I mean, 20 years! Two kids and he didn't send child support. Then shows up at my 8 yr. old daughter's funeral. She died in a car accident and he wanted the insurance money. He was over $23,000 behind in child support and he wanted insurance money! The least he could do is abide by what the divorce papers said. Don't "judge me", Seniorjudge, until you have lived my life. Last edited by canyonbell; 03-05-2008 at 04:42 PM. |

| Your lawsuit has no effect on the creditor. But check with a lawyer. The SOL may have run.
