a stopped check

What is the name of your state? Louisiana

I was owed over 2 grand from a "so called business man".....He sent me a check, I called his bank to make sure he had sufficient funds, and so he did....I immediately went to deposit the check, only to find out a day later, he had put a stop to the check. I have been in battle with this guy for a while, and I find out about a few months later, he was writing bad checks
all over town before he moved to his new place, and basically are nothing but con-artist. He had sold fake "stock" to little old women, who are looking for him, he had declared bankruptsy twice in the past couple of years. I feel dooped....Now he is in another state, and I don't know what to do besides bring him to small claims court. Is there any way for me to warn his new town of what they're capable of? or just leave it? What should I do?

If he declared BK after he wrote you the check, there is nothing that you can do. Attempting to collect on it will get you fined up the wazoo.

no, he went bankrupt months-a year prior, and i guess you can say started "fresh"......so he didn't go bankrupt after the check was written. so i think it is still valid.

There is nothing you can do besides a small claims lawsuit.
