Student Loan collection problem

What is the name of your state?CO
I had a student loan in 1993. Due to several medical issues I filed a bankruptcy in 1998. I have not been notified nor had collection efforts takeplace for all these years. Now I have a decent job and am just getting on my feet. The collection agency for the governme nt contacted me today and wants to reinstate my loan. Is this legal? and what are my rights? Thank you.

sure it's legal. bankruptcy does not discharge a government student loan.
