What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York
I received a summons in my mailbox for a credit card balance. It's from Attorneys, it does not tell me if I must appear only that I am the defendant and must answer withing 20 days. Whom do i answer to? how do i find out if this is not just a ploy to get me to call them? If i ignore it what happens?
Thank You

You need to find an attorney to help you with this.
Look in the yellow pages under "consumer debt" and go from there...

Definitely follow the adivce given to you. If you ignore the summons, you will end up with a judgement and have had no opportunity to defend yourself.
