Timeshare Debt collectors

I own a timeshare in Florida. I have not paid the maintenance as I no longer wish to own this timeshare. I have exhausted all avenues for selling this timeshare. The owners have transferred my debt from them to a collection agency. I have phoned the agency and told them of my frustrations and said I have no intention of paying any more money. What I need to know is if i have a debt in the U.S will it affect my credit rating in the U.K and can they chase me for this debt or will it simply go away. Any advice on this matter is greatly appreciated. I have only had 1 vacation at this resort and it has cost me $7000 to date so you folks can understand my anger and frustration.

It's not impossible, but it is unlikely.

They aren't likely to go away. I've seen more and more posts lately by people who are being sued in the US for a UK debt and vice versa.
