Unauthorized Withdrawal

What is the name of your state? SLC, Utah

Okay, so I have this debt that I owe with a phone company called Helio. I called the collection agency which they referred me to. The name of the Collection Ageny is CCS which is located in Cleveland Ohio.

I have been having problems with them since the beginning.
I made two payments already, one for $168.00 and another for $65. Both payments made over phone that I authorized. The last payment of $65 was a hassle, because it showed on my online bank account that they were going to pull out $259.00. After continuous calls to different people they finally got it fixed.

I decided after the hassle of trying to get it resolved that I just wanted my account information mailed to me. I was also going to start making payments by mail. They told me that I would only receive my account information after I made full payments. Then she asked me to make another payment, which I refused. So, I asked her for the address to her company so I could send a mail requesting for my account information. I got the address and I am in the process of sending them my mail...

Does this sound shady to you? During, the call this lady introduced herself as "Regina", but at the end of the call she said her name was "Rose Mary".

Just today I checked my online account and it shows that they withdrew $184.00 from my account without my authorization. Their office hours are closed right now so I cant contact them.

What should I do?
Would filing a complaint with FTC help my case?

You NEVER give debt collectors a way to pull money out of your bank account. You need to call your bank, and notify them of the unauthorized withdrawal.

The only way you may be able to stop the withdrawals is to close your account and move it to another bank.

I just checked in with my bank and they put a stop to my card. They also said they would refund me if I am unable to get a refund from the collection agency.

I called in to the collection agency and they told me that when they pulled out the $184.00 that it resolved my account.. so to them it makes it alright to pull out money whenever they want, because it will close out my account. Then they try to make it sound like it's my fault for not keeping an eye on my account. Here is what the lady told me, "Well, I don't understand sir. Why didn't you call in on the 25th when it was withdrawn." "You should watch your account more closely when it comes to things like this."... Then she tells me I have to call in the morning for a supervisor.

What do you guys think? Should I dispute what they did or just drop it?

I know my account is paid off now, but the method in which they did it is not right.

Me? I'd have it reversed by the bank.

I would talk to an attorney, specifically a consumer rights attorney. What they did was wrong and illegal. It is a violation of the FDCPA and you should sue.
