Update on Summons from ProvidianWhat is the name of your state? California I called the lawyers office again today to try to settle prior to going to court. The collections manager "betty" for whom i had problems with before actually forward me to the actual lawyer in charge of my case. Not sure if it is because of the letter I sent on Friday? We spoke for about 10 minutes....he was actually very nice and listened to what i had to say. He asked me what I was wanting to settle for...i gave him the figure....he said he will talk to the client and call me either this evening or tomorrow. Now, mind you, not sure if he's going back to the client and saying "we could get her to default and garnish her wages" or however these lawyers do it. i guess what i am asking is.....i've gotten this far with them...now what? is it common for them to settle prior to the defendent having to file their response to court? |

| Is it common ?? I can't answer that, but it DOES happen as long as people make the move anc contact the lawyer that's suing them. Just make sure you get any agreement IN WRITING.
