Valid Default Judgement ?

What is the name of your state? LOUISIANA

In 2000 Bankfirst sued me in a small claims court in Yankton, South Dakota for non-payment on a secured credit card and received a default judgement for $754.

There was no way that I was going to fly from New Orleans to South Dakota to contest the debt.

And so I have two questions:

1. Are there any legal means to have the judgement put aside due to the thousands of miles I would have to have traveled to defend myself.

2. Is it likely (practical) for a collection agency to enforce the judgement here in Louisiana ?
