Yes, you have to pay the money back. You can do nothing and the store will probably sue you and besides being granted a judgment for the check, you will have to pay lawyer fees and court costs too.

wages from bankrupt business

Ok, so I pay the grocery store back. Then how do I go about getting my months worth of wages from my bankrupt job. I've tried to get hold of my old boss. No luck.

What type of bankruptcy did your employer file ?? If they filed Ch 11, then employee wages DO eventually get paid, but employee's wages are usually NOT first of the list of creditors. I suggest you get more info on the bankruptcy, you may have to actually file a claim with the BK court to be sure you get paid.
