Wage Garnishment

I'm in Minnesota. I have a shady collection agency attempting to collect a debt I feel I don't owe. They have recently sent me an odd looking form with the logo of the company that I work for, noting that they are going to start wage garnishment. My question is, can a collection agency just garnish your wages or do they have to go thought the court? If they could garnish wages you would think they would of done it 20 years ago when the alleged debt occurred. I contacted my human resources dept. They contacted payroll and they were not able to give me any info. Any knowledge on this would be appreciated. Thank you.

Unless you gave them specific permission to garnish in a dispute (very unusual), they would require a judgment and subsequent garnishment order from the court.

Does their paperwork include a name of court and case number?? If so, contact that court.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!
