Wage garnishment over old questionable debt

What is the name of your state? WI

Recently I had a wage garnishment placed on me for a supposed debt that is from 2000. It took numerous phone calls for me to even get the collection agency to tell me how old this debt was. Once I'd start to dispute it with them they'd either hangup on me or tell me the person in charge of this case was out of the office, and that I'd need to call back later.

Can I write a letter to the judge and ask that this case be dismissed due to the debt being more than six years old, or am I stuck having to pay for this supposed bill since my wages are now being garnished for this?

A wage garnishment is a post judgment action which means that the creditor had to have obtained a judgment against you before initiating garnishment proceeedings. If the debt wasn't valid, the time to have asserted that position was when you were first served with a complaint. It is possibly too late right now to do much.
