We were hired by a company months after they filed for bankruptcy

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia

We are an Electrical Contractor hired by a company a couple of months after they filed for bankruptcy. We have not been paid and were wondering if we have any recourse in collecting the debt since they hired us knowing they did not have the money to pay?

Just sue them for the money owed.

Yup, sue 'em for the money they owe. Though not impossible it's very unlikely they'll be able to discharge this debt in another bankruptcy filing.

(incidentally it could be argued that after filing the bankruptcy they had every intent of paying you - because their resources have suddenly been freed up, allowing them to do so....)
