what do i do?

What is the name of your state?What is the name of your state? NY

My fiance gave his ex girlfriend a loan in the amount of 6k, (while they were together ) it has been past 2 years and no effort has been made by her to pay for this loan.

(he has checks made out to her with the word "loan" on the memo section as proof of the loan)

My fiance has a very buzy schedule so he has limited time to deal with this problem. I used to work in a collection agency so i'm pretty familiar with the collection process and so on.

Could i collect on his behalf? e.g have the person contact me regarding the debt and so on and act as his representative or would we have to hire an outside collection agency?
