What to expect for court date?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

I received a summons for a medical debt on Monday to appear in court next week. I spoke with a free legal advice for people with low income and they told me I didn't need to bother going since I will probably have a judgment against me whether or not I show up. I still want to go but would like to know what to expect.

They also said that since I earn less than 45x the minimum wage and have no assets then nothing can happen. Is this true? She told me there will be another court date where they will review my assets and I cannot miss that one. And in 7 years they can try again.

I've tried to contact the lawyer to work something out but have received no call back. Should I hound them or just wait till the court date? I honestly don't have much to offer, probably no more than $10-$25 a month (I owe 7660 + legal fees).

In the summons package there is a copy of a "General Consent for Tests, Treatments and Services" from the hospital I went to, but it is not mine. It is a copy of someone else's name and signature on it. Can I use this to my advantage?

Thank you for your help.
