What form of payment to use

What is the name of your state? SC

A collection agency and I are negotiating a settlement for a credit card and we may have reached middle ground for the account to be recorded as "paid in full" (they wouldn't go for paid as agreed)

They say they can accept any form of payment, but what should I use? I've read that a cashier's check or money order is the way to go, but can I use a check/debit card with confidence? The reason I would go that route is that I'm a little tight on time - however, I don't want to get myself in a bad situation if the debit card route provides opportunities to get myself in trouble.

Thanks,

A: Cashier's check or money order.

Thanks Senior Judge,

Followup question - can I use an online money order like emoneygram or Western Union or should I just send the paper version?

A debit or credit card presents more oportunities for abuse now or in any subsequent dealings, but then people do tend to purchase cashier's checks at their normal banking office anyway.

Given any chance of a choice, I'd go for cashier's check or money order.

You're not settling and then giving them the right to charge the payment against a card are you? That would be very imprudent.

What's the problem with driving to the bank and getting a cashier's check???

Since you're on the East Coast, the banks and post offices are still open. Get off of the internet...,go get the check, and then go to the post office and send it express mail overnight.

There...done!!!
