Can they now come after.. My Car ( It Is Paid Off)


What is the name of your state?
New York

My bank accounts have been frozen, by a restaning notice from Wolpoff & Abramson.... However I have been told by W&A that the money I get each month is exempt. I am on long trem disabiliy & recivce a veterans widow benefits.
So my questions are:

#1 How long can they keep my accounts frozen?
#2 Can they put alein on my home?
#3 Can they take my car ( which is paid off) ?

In NY, pretty much indefinitely - or until the debt is paid.

Most definitely, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's not already there.

Maybe, but in most cases taking cars isn't worth it because they can never sell them at auction for anywhere near what they're even worth.

Although I did get an amusing call in which we siezed a debtor's classic chevy. Paid off our account and we sent the debtor the money that was left over. There are some days I love the sound of a grown man crying. (I'm normally a sweetheart on the phone, but this particular debtor thought he was *above* the system, and thoroughly abused collectors on the phone whenever possible.)

Well.. a classic vehicle is hardly anyone's everyday car.. and they usually are worth far more than most modern vehicles.
