Are social security benefits for a child with a disability impacted if the mother moves from a $900/month apartment into a parents home where she doesnt have to pay rent?

If your child’s income and resources, or the income and resources of family members living in the child’s household, are more than the amount allowed by SSA imputed calculations they will deny or lower the child’s SSI payments. We do not have access to calculator information to determine the effect on you.

To sign up for SSI, a child and his family can't have more than the maximum income and resources. The family can have only $2000 in resources. Since mom is no longer using $900 of that for rent, then that frees up that money as resources that could be used to care for the disabled child in question. If the available resources increase significantly enough, it may be possible that it could impact the SSI benefits that child is eligible to receive.

Ok just so I understand correctly, a home mortgage (or rent) can be declared as an expense against income to increase eligibility for a disabled child's SSI?
