Ltd Lump Sum Settlements

What is the name of your state? GA

Has anyone received a lump sum settlement from their Long Term Disability claim. I am wondering what the average percentage is. For example, today's value of my claim if $250,000 what percentage of that would they try and settle with me for, 50%, 60% ????? Just need a bit of a guide to go by..

I am currently appealing an arbitrary termination of LTD benefits by Cigna insurance. I've been told by an uderwriter(my sister) in another sector of the insurance industry,that offering a lump sum settlement is not an uncommon resolution in these situations... I am currently evaluating 2 attorneys...one a local specialist in disability/WC claims, and the other is associated with one of the mega firms that solicits cases via advertising. The "mega firm" claims that they can get the entire amount( their cut would be 40%) but quite frankly I'm having trouble buying that. I'm disabled, not STUPID.
So it would be useful to hear of other people's experiences,and/or learned comment by some of our members who are attorneys.
