What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
I had a cornea abrasion on my right eye which means I scratched my cornea about a month and a half ago. The emergency room requested I saw an eye specialist immediately due to some irregular pupil shape and inflammation on both eyes which does not consistent with a corneal abrasion. When I saw the specialist my vision had gotten a lot worst and my right pupil had taken shape of a three leaf clover. Once I started getting treated the symptoms of the eyes drops I was given was making it hard to drive, read and even be out side in the sun light. A couple weeks ago the eye specialist found that my retina on both eyes were swollen. He then referred me to a Retina Specialist. He put me on more eye drops and I am now taking 5 different eye drops. The symptoms now included drowsiness, eye blurriness, light sensitivity, migraines, dizziness, burning of my eyes and I feel a lot of pressure in my eyes. All of these daily symptoms have made my daily obligations increasingly difficult to accomplish as I work in a office in front of a computer 8 hrs a day. My boss shortened my hours to 5 hrs a day because she noticed that it was becoming increasingly difficult to finish my daily task. It is now very difficult for me to pay for my monthly expenses due to the hour shortening. I asked the retina specialist if he could give me short term disability until my current health conditions get better. He then disclosed to me that California State Law does not allow for him to give me short term disability unless I am nearly blind. My question is, what is the California State Law requirements for short term disability? My apologies for the long letter, I just felt that who ever would like to respond would be able to better assist me with the full facts. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
