Short term disability in appeals

What is the name of your state Virginia

I had a slip and fall accident which resulted in 2 torn menicus of Lt. knee.
There were complications with recovery. Allergic reaction to the dressing and severe calf and toe pain. Leg and ankle swelling..I am currently in physical therapy for the continued calf and leg swelling. I was off work for 2 months. Metlife paid only 1 wk of my disablity. When my disability was extended and documention from doctor was faxed to them. They did not like the way Doctor did his notes. So they requested more info. Then additional forms for Doctor to file. They were all filled out and faxed to them They received every document. Then they closed the case. I appealed it. They stated that it would be in appeals for 45 days which has come and gone now I received another letter from them stating that they need an additional 45 days to review all documentation..My orthopedic MD stated to me that Metlife is that way. Hates to pay.. What else can I do to speed up the process. They have been reviewing since late July 2009.
