A friend is considering divorce. She told her husband a few years ago to quit work. She wanted to "know where he was". He is now involved in drugs, is never home, has taken the car that she is paying for and is in her name, and is also involved in other shady activities. They have a child together. There is a lot more to this story, she has basically enabled him to get away with a lot because she "loves him". She is a bright person, but not in this instance. She called the police to find out what would happen to him if she reports the car stolen. They told her he would get 5-10 years, and she doesn't want to be "responsible for that", even though I told her it's his behavior that gets him in trouble not hers. Anyway, she is considering a divorce. Taking all this into consideration, the drugs, his MIA for days, the car, he pointed a gun at her, he is mentally abusive, would she have to pay him alimony if she gets the divorce or would the judge take his behavior into consideration. Thanking IAAL in advance.
