I'm assuming you mean common law marriage. You'd know if you were married if you had a wedding ceremony.

For a common law marriage in Texas to be valid all 4 of the following things must have occurred:

(1) Agree to be married
(2) Live together as husband and wife
(3) Told others (hold yourselves out) that you are married.
(4) Both parties be 18 years of age or older.
