In the state of Colorado: My boyfriend is filing for divorce and found out that he has been spelling his Surname incorrectly all of his life( due to the fact he never had his birth certificate until he applied for a Passport recently). The court refused the papers he filed saying they were not legal due to the mis-spelling, does this mean that his marriage certificate is illegal too, as he got married using the mis-spelt name, without realising it? Also the birthdate was wrong at the time of his marriage. Now he has a valid birth certificate through the State of Arizona.
