What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? marriage took place in NC, although one one resides there currently, the other in hometown of MO.
my best friend "joe" married "mary" more or less on a whim. the marriage lasted approximately 6 months and ended when mary told joe the baby she was pregnant with wasn't his. joe filed for divorce but in NC there's something like a divorce waiting period where you have to apply and wait a year or something before it's processed. the year has far surpassed and mary won't sign the paperwork, presumably b/c joe has to pay her spousal support.
is there anyway to institute a deadline that she has to sign the paperwork or is he going to be married and paying her for life?
