Appeal Process

Does anyone know the appeal process for the state of Kansas? How many days from date judgement is filed? Are there different types of appeals, such as request for re-trial or re-hearing with same judge and then appeal to the appealate court? What about supreme court. I am mainly interested in the time limits for filing such appeals. If the party accepts the settlement, does that mean they have basically waived their right to appeal? Just wondering when this mess will be over with & I can completely get on with my life! Thanks.
