This is for a friend that I work with, she is very confused and scared.

She was married in North Carolina, filed for divorce in Arizona and left the state, was told by ex that the divorce was done but she never got paperwork. Married in Nevada, had one child, husband is now deceased and child has received social security survivors benefits for seven years. Just found out from ex that the divorce was never done. Where does she start to get this straightned out? What happens with her child and the benefits received from the marriage that if I am correct would be considered null and void.

If the deceased second "husband" was the father of the child while living, he's still the father, whether she was legally married to him or not.
