My question is about California community property law. I know that based on California law, a personal, family inheritance is not considered community property (subject to equal division upon divorce), but what I don’t know is what happens if the money from the inheritance is spend on say a boat. Does the boat now become community property? If so, I would like to hear some thought on how I could keep my inheritance from being considered California community property and possibly enjoy it at the same time.
