What is the name of your state? AZ

My husband and I recently separated - I rented a house and moved out. I didn't get all of my belongings out of the house fast enough, so my husband put what he thought to be mine in the single car garage (which I have access to). I went to the home today to pick some things up, and my garage door opener doesn't work and the locks have been changed. I still have items in the house. Can he do this? Well, obviously he did, but is there anything I can do? I'm not on the mortgage. Please help!

Try getting a police escort to the house, when you know that your husband will be present, to stand by while you pick up your things.

Is the address for the house on your DL?

If so, call a locksmith to get you into the garage.

furthermore, when you go there with the police escort they can only allow you to take what he says is okay, if he states that something is his they will not let you take it, also if he thinks that things are taking longer than they should he can say times up and you will all have to leave!!

Actually she won't have to leave because that home is the marital residence and they are still married. Without court orders she does NOT have to leave.

Getting your Stuff

For all those planning on leaving your spouses...if you do not take it when you leave do not expect to ever see it again. I was allowed after I left to make a list of what I wanted...it was minimal even though most of the stuff was given to us by my parents (33 years of stuff). This list was "blessed" at the divorce. I left for another state and could only take a car load. When I did get to return to get my list of things...only I was allowed in the house and he followed me like a puppy checking off what was on the list.

Now on the other hand my present fiance, had to go with a police escort to only be given 4 boxes of crap..one item being her son's bowling trophy! The police is only there to protect you from her saying she or he was attacked by you. The police cannot make her give you anything as he does not know...nor cares. My fiance is still missing many personal nice items and when confronted in court she says "I do not have it" and that is that!

Is it only stuff and if you will have a better life....GO!

me personaly I would go when he is not there and have a locksmith
open for you telling them you lost your key get stuff and go.provided you can show proff of residence to locksmith.its not burglary unless he can prove eviction. or a court order that says you are no longer a resident
