Can I Change Back to Maiden Name Before Divorce Is Final?

What is the name of your state? CA

Basically, I know I'm jumping the gun, but I'm so emotionally done with this relationship and just waiting for legalities to get in motion and finalized that I want my maiden name back - like, NOW. Can I change my name back before the divorce is final, or am I required to wait?

    Jumping a bit too fast...

You may be jumping a bit too fast.
Its not all that easy changing your name even after a divorce. I mean it is
done and all, but it is still a bunch of red tape...not only the forms but all
the people you need to notify of the change, including Social Security.
You may want to wait... you are going to have a lot on your plate as it is.

With Identity theft running rampant and 911... it is a court ordered thingamagiggy (official wording here). So its not as easy as it once was,

Here are some links for ya sista.

After reading the Nolo one you might see that it is easier to have the divorce decree do it nowadays.
