Can I file a lawsuit against my lawyer??

What is the name of your state? TX

I filed for divorce without any response whatsoever from the ex up to and including the final hearing. The lawyer(cold hearted snake) who I hired not only took his time with my case, but questioned the division of property as I speficied. The ex had to be served with the divorce papers TWICE(paid extra). Now that the final hearing is over 22 days(after 30 days it would have been final) passed and then I get a call from the guy I hired to handle my case saying she has filed an appeal because she didn't know what was going on. Anywho, bottom line, I have reason to believe that my so-called lawyer instigated all this by having his buddy call her up and brainwashing her into "fighting" for her rights. Now I have to spend more money as a result. I know I still have to prove this claim but can I file a lawsuit against the lawyer? Under what grounds? As I go through the legal system, it seems to me that this is common practice on their behalf in order to "make a living" or to favor each other at our expense. Please advise.

Q: I know I still have to prove this claim but can I file a lawsuit against the lawyer?

A: Yes.

Q: Under what grounds?

A: I have no idea; what can you prove in court?

lawsuit against a lawyer...Tx

As of right now, I do not posses any proof of my claim except the events which have taken place and are off the records. Also, other than a lawsuit, where can I file a complaint? I am only trying to handle all this in a humane manner. A lawyer who persuades a person to carry on a legal battle is driven only by greed more often than not. That's my opinion in this case. Specially when I can barely cover all the debts I incurred as a result of the marriage/divorce and future finances going towards the legal battle are limited thus making it a possibility to lose the case by default. The ex has been gone for a year and 3 months now and has managed to survive without any assistance from me(her choice). She took everything she wanted or needed and never looked back, until now---FYI
In any case, thank you very much for your response(s). They are somewhat helpful if not in an informative way.

Question

complaint against lawyer.....Tx

Well it has been a while since I asked. I am sure whoever responds to these posts has not had time to answer mine, or lawyers don't brake laws by instigating legal battles and/or "attorney complaint departments" are non-existent in this legal system. If anyone who reads this post can point me in the right direction, it will be appreciated. THANK YOU

Depending upon the laws in your state, your lawyer may have saved you quite a bit of money by not fighting a losing battle. You should ask him why he has done what he's done. Here in California if you take a default on someone, they can come back and ask the court to set aside the default up to six months from when the default was taken, and almost always the court will allow the default to be set aside. Everyone is allowed his day in court.

Your lawyer may not be ask bad as you think; in fact, he may be serving you well, despite your suspicions.
