What is the name of your state? New Jersey

I wish to separate from my husband but can't afford to get an apartment. Can I live in a spare bedroom of our house while being legally separated?

Some states allow it so long as you are financially separate -- as in you do not depend on him to pay ANY of your bills and you cook your meals from food you buy and eat separately. It is difficult to show the court that you are separated and you would probably not be granted the legal separation. it is best that you move in with relatives if possible. Are you working? If not then it is time to get a job.
