What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

Hello, I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding the following:

A week before before my marriage in 1984, my husband paid $10k for a down payment on a house.

Over the next 20+ years, we paid off the house together, and my name is on the dead together with his.

Is he entitled to 50% of the house +$10k, or is it community property?

Any links to law would be appreciated, as I like to read into details and understand.

From what I understand, if he had that $10k tucked away somewhere, and never used it, it would still be his, but since he applied it to the purchase of a unit of community property, it is community property.

Thank you for reading and for your information!
