What is the name of your state? Florida

In another section of this site, I reade the following statement :
"it should be noted that an employer sponsored group health insurance plan can be required under federal law to offer continuation of benefits at the group insurance rate to the supported spouse.."

Can you tell me how I can find out more about this. I probably won't get support; but I don't have a job and I need to urgently keep the health insurance benefits I have under my spouse's plan. If I don't, I won't be able to get the medicine I need to survive. If I can show this, is there any way I can get a continuation of benefits?
