What is the name of your state? Florida
I live in FL, my husband lives in NJ. What happens if i do not return the acknowledgement of service to the court in New jersey.And why do i have to return it with a check paid to the court?:(

If the post office has proof it was delivered, you will likely be charged with contempt.

What was delivered, a petition for divorce? Custody? Support?
