What is the name of your state? california my daughter has lived in california for 1 and a half years and is divorcing her husband who lives in arizona. she filed her papers and paid her fees about 3 months ago. since then she decided to move to utah and the courts told her she would need her husbands permission because they have a four year old daughter. so she got permission and thew whole divorce is uncontested but now california is telling her they no longer are in charge of her case that she will have to file again in utah. is this true? does she just lose the fees she has already paid ?

Once she moves, she's no longer a resident of CA and has to wait until she's established residency in UT. And no, she doesn't get her CA filing fees back. It's not the state's fault she decided to move.
