I was married in 1987 or 88, I have not seen my estranged husband in more than 10 years. I think it's time to get a divorce. I do not know where he is. For all I know he could be dead or re-married. He has a common name, so I get a lot of hits when I try to search. What is my best course of action at this point? Do I need an attorney or can I go through one of those paralegal services? Does he have to be contacted or can it just be ended without finding him?

You can do service by publication, which means you can divorce him without finding him and serving him physically with paperwork.

Check the laws in your state.

I would suggest you consult an attorney on this.
