What is the name of your state?

Texas.

I was wondering what would be the best way to protect your assets in case of a divorce. I have been told to keep everything in your name separate and have her do the same, but what else could you do. I know one guy who was in business and his partner was fixing to sue him so he divorced his wife and signed everything over to him so he would not lose anything. Could you do the same thing in a divorce and sign your retirement and assets to someone before you got a divorce so your spouse could not get it since it would not be your any more and when the divorce was over sign it back over to you? If anyone has and information on this or if there are any lawyers that can comment on this please get back to me. Thanks for the help.

"Judge"...

you've already beaten this particular poor horse to death. Have your friend get a pre-nup, assuming that pre-nups have "power" in a TX divorce court.

Bear in mind that TX is a "community property state"

and thus I don't know of anyway to protect "community assets". Don't know if a "pre-nup" or a "Revocable Trust" will work in TX in the event of a divorce. In many, many threads you've been advised to retain the services of lawyers who deal with issues like pre-nups and trusts. I think you're far too worried about getting divorced to make any woman a mature life partner anyway. Just IMHO, an opinion that is shared by many on these boards I suspect.

Now would you like a recap of your similar threads? Because you keep asking similar questions with minor rephrasing.

In "Best Way" 5/3/03 and "Trust and Pre-nup" 5/2/03 in Estate Planning. 0 answers in "Best Way", 2 in "Trust and Pre-nup". I refer you to ALawyers reply in:
https://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141700

and don't forget your thread in entitled "But, how to ask for a pre-nup" in Family Law General questions. This one was started on April 30, 2003. There you had 17 responses.

You hijacked Cleo2002's thread https://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141903 to ask your own questions. In this one nextwife accused you of asking the same question 5 times. This thread was started on April 30, 2003.

And, https://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141597 from April 28,2003 from the Alimony and Spousal Support questions

And, https://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141597.. I particularly like Enjay's response. This one you asked in the Family Law Archive.

And, https://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141590 on 4/26/2003 in Family Law general questions.

Plus, https://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141596 in Divorce, Separation and annulment on April 25.2003.

The jist of the legal answers you received in these threads was that you/your friend (why do you keep bouncing back and forth) need RETAIN REAL LAWYER (S) to answer your questions and pay a real lawyer or lawyers.

Judge, please grow up and retain a whole "team" of TX lawyers if you have to.
