Originally posted by Hodgee i am in the state of california and my fiance and i are planning to marry in september of this year. we recently found out that he has been married since 1988. he believed that the marriage was void, since the person who married him said that some paperwork needed to be turned in within ninety days and he never turned it in. however, we found out that he is married. our friend is going to be deputized in order to marry us. can we still go through with the ceremony and turn in our marriage certificate and what are the ramifications? FYI: he has started the paperwork for the divorce. thank you.

My response:
"Biagmy" - I wasn't sure if you had a question about an Italian submarine sandwich or a marital problem.
Anyway, you're talking about "Bigamy" and your current license is void. You can't use it.
You'll have to apply for a new license when his divorce is final. You can't get married until he's got that signed Decree of Divorce in his hand.
Don't get upset with me - - take your anger out on "bright boy."
Sorry.
