What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CT
Im starting the divorce process and I am also in the middle of closing on a home. I have been seperated for five years and have maintained different addresses and all for all of that time. My stbx said she wants no part of our new home (2 of our adult children will live with me). The home will be in my name alone and she will not be named on anything. Do I need to get a lawyer or because we have been apart so long will this even be an issue??

If you are certain that she won't make any claim on the home, then its probably not a problem.

However, for the record and for the sake of any future posters reading this thread, this is a dumb thing to do.

Get a divorce first, THEN buy a home if that is what you wish to do. It is never a good idea to make major investments when you are in the middle of a divorce.
