What is the name of your state? i live in washington state. i recently was divorced. in the decree she was granted the car and was supposed to be responsible for the payments. i need to know , if she does not make the payments can the finance company come after me, and can it effect my credit?

Yes...divorce judgments/settlements are not recognized by lenders. The only way for you to be released from liability for the debt would be for your ex to take out a loan, pay off the finance company, and then make her payments to the new lender. I know, it doesn't seem fair that you're required to abide by the judge's orders yet you could possibly get screwed for doing do in other ways.
