I am in the process of a divorce and my wife would like to keep the house, which is fine with me. Both of our names are on the mortgage. We live in New Hampshire. My wife is not as financially
secure as me and I would like to be able to come to an agreement with her to sign over the house to her for little or no money. Is it true that I would remain liable to the original mortgage unless she refinances? I would like to help her avoid the process of refinancing, if possible, since although she could probably swing the mortgage payments, a bank might not grant her approval given her present circumstances (on her own).
