divorce - New Mexico

I have an elderly friend in Carlsbad, New Mexico who wants a divorce. There is sizeable community property (and non-community property) involved but she has no access to cash. (Husband set up HIS control over assets long ago). She has difficulty hiring an attorney since they all want significant down payment to start procedure. I am in Calif. and cannot help her with advice, transportation or $. How can she get help locally? Is there some legal assistance available for her as a senior (she's in 80s)? What about legal aid for someone who has $ but can't get to it until something arranged by an attorney?
