Question

Divorce Settlement Payments

What is the name of your state? New York

When I was getting divorced, my now ex-husband gave the lawyer & judge a big sob story about how he couldn't pay all of the settlement at once. So I agreed, call me chump, that he could pay off the balance in yearly payments of $5000.

These payments are to be made on or before October 1st. It is written in the divorce agreement & was filed in the NY State Supreme Court.The first payment was made a month late. The second payment was made in installments over 6 months. This is now the 3rd year that payment is due.

I have recently relocated to South Carolina. Ex-husband was notified of my new address so he could send the payment for this year. No reply from him & I firmly believe he will not pay another dime thinking he is "off the hook"

What is the procedure I should follow to collect what is rightfully mine?

I sincerely appreciate any help you could offer me.What is the name of your state?

File contempt of court charges on him in the same court that granted your decree.
