Divorce in VA

What is the name of your state? VA
I was married in my country 10 years ago, can I get divorce in the US?
If that is posible, I know that in VA we have to be separed for 12 months before filing because we have a doughter. How do I prove the legal separation? I'm just going to iniciate a lease just for me, but we are separate since December.
