Well....that isn't how mortgage companies normally do things. They don't garnish someone's wages, they foreclose on the house.
However, it was a real mistake to give him a quit claim deed without requiring him to refinance the house, in his own name, first.
Your credit IS being damaged by his lack of payment.....you are legally responsible for the mortgage too. The mortgage company isn't a party to your divorce agreement.
