divorce while in nursing home

What is the name of your state? OHIO

My mother passed away in '94 and then my father remarried five years ago. A couple of years ago he was diagnosed with alzheimer's at which time his current wife immediately got power of attorney and control of everything they owned. My father is now in a nursing home and since the wife has control of everyting I don't know what arrangements she made to pay for it. My sister just today heard through a friend that the wife is planning to divorce our father. I don't see how she could just leave him with no way to take care of himself or pay for the nursing home when she is responsible for him. What would happen to him if she did get a divorce? We don't even know whether we should get a divorce lawyer or elder law lawyer or if my sisters and I even have any options at all. I would be very grateful for any advice you can give me. Thanks.

I think that you and your sisters should definitely consult an attorney. I would start out consulting with an attorney that specializes in elder law.
