Question

Divorced or not?

What is the name of your state? Tennessee
My questions is for my brother. Is there any way he can find out if his wife (of which he has not seen for over 2 years) has filed for and obtained a divorce from him perhaps without him being made aware? They simply seperated a few years back and went their seperate ways but neither filed for divorce at that time (probably due to the cost). He now lives with someone else and has not seen or heard from her (the former wife) but thinks she may have tried to obtain a divorce because he assumes she has since found someone else. Is there any resource available in which to check this? He knows her name, not sure if he has a SS# on her, probably will remember the birthday, and knows of the approximate last address she lived.

Thanks for your help.

Contact the county in which she lives, and the county in which they lived together to see if there are divorce papers on file. He may actually have to go to the county for this.

He should file for divorce if he cannot find documentation proving whether or not he is still married.
