Divorcing InmateWhat is the name of your state? SC, but husband incarcerated in GA. We were married in August of 1998 in SC, husband disappeared in Jan. 1999 only to be found in August of 1999 and arrested for violation of probation. Claimed he had emotional break down (claims he has/had post traumatic syndrome and ran from life in it self(yeah right!)) Has been in GA state prison ever since. If I file for divorce in SC can he object and keep me from getting one? Can he ask for spousal support from me? Can he claim what I have bought since the marriage or had prior to marriage, he has contributed nothing towards any of the purchases. I have not filed prior to finaces and cost of divorce. I figured since he was in prison he was no real threat to me. Will be there until 2009. Any advice is welcomed! Thank you in advance. |

| Thank you for your reply, I am going to start proceedings here shortly and did not want any surprises from him. He claims I can't divorce him because he is mentally ill, claims he has post traumatic stress syndrome and that is to blame for all his actions. Again thanks! ![]() |
