I live in Alabama. Been apart from spouse for 10yrs. I want a divorce but money is tight. Can I do it myself? What papers are needed? I also dont know where he is. How do I serve him by publication? Thanks in advance.....

I'd be very careful of DIY divorces - especially if you there are children or property involved.

Take a look at this site: http://divorcenet.com/al/al.html - it'll at least give you a starting point - especially the book.
