Engagement Break Off

What is the name of your state? Kentucky

I recently moved to Louisville, KY from Denver, CO 2 months ago for my ex-fiancee. Now that I am here she has broken the engagement off. Because of this I am now going to be in about $10,000.00 debt from the ring, my apartment lease, moving costs, and gifts. I am very angry about this because the only reason that I moved out here was to marry her. She had promised me that she would never leave and that she would do whatever it took to make this work. Now only after 2 months I am in severe debt and have an extremely broken heart. I wanted to know if there is any legal action I can take because she refused to even talk to me or help me out of the situation. She won't help me with the costs and won't even give the ring back. What can I do.

I believe the case law is on your side in terms of getting the ring back, so if it is a large part of the money you mentioned, by all means take her to court on that one and then sell it off. The ring signifies a promise of marriage and that promise was not fulfilled so the logic goes.

The rest was your choice, period. YOu are an adult, you chose to move. Eat the expense there and move on. Don't let bitterness run your life, the best revenge would be to move on and show her how little she matters - not by stalking her with a new gal or endless court dates, but truly MOVING ON.
